![]() Most high end digital SLR cameras give you the option of capturing images in either the JPEG or RAW format. ![]() It supports 24-bit color, which means it can reproduce roughly 16.7 million colors, and even the cheapest digital cameras can capture images as JPEG files. The JPEG (Joint Photographic Expert Group) format has been around for nearly 20 years now and has become the most popular and widely used file format for viewing and sharing digital photos. Bottom line, your PSD file is the most important file you can have, so be sure to save yourself a master copy of your work as a PSD file so you can always return to it in Photoshop when you need it! JPEG But with computer hard drives and memory being so cheap these days, it's a small price to pay for the creative freedom that Photoshop and its native PSD file format give us. The only real disadvantage to PSD files is that the file size can get very large, especially if you're working on an image with hundreds or even thousands of layers. You can even re-open a PSD file in Photoshop directly from InDesign, make changes to the file, save it, and have the changes immediately update in your layout! One of the newer advantages with PSD files is that they can now be imported directly into Adobe InDesign, giving you complete access to the individual layers in the file as you're designing your page layouts. You can easily print your images at home with Photoshop directly from the PSD file, and many commercial printers are now able to accept PSDs as well, although some may still require an EPS or TIFF version of the file instead, so it's always best to check with your printer to make sure you're giving them the format they need. There's no loss in image quality no matter how many times you re-open and re-save a PSD, and all of your layers, layer masks, adjustment layers and so on will be saved as part of the file, allowing you to go back at any time and make changes to the image or continue working from where you left off. If you've done any sort of editing work on an image and there's even the slightest chance you'll need to come back to it again at some point in the future, save your work as a Photoshop PSD file. PSD files are your best choice to serve as your master files and for archiving to CD, DVD or an external hard drive for safe keeping. When we open an image in Photoshop, regardless of which file type the image was originally using, Photoshop temporarily converts it into a PSD file behind the scenes so we can work on it with all of Photoshop's tools, commands and features at our disposal. PSD is one of the few file types that fully support all of the powerful features that Photoshop gives us, like layers, layer masks, adjustment layers, channels, paths, and so on. PSD stands for "Photoshop Document", and as the name implies, it's Photoshop's native file format. Of all the file formats that Photoshop supports, the PSD format is probably the most important. In this quick guide, we'll look briefly at the essential formats we need to know, or at least be aware of, including the pros and cons of each one and the situations where it makes the most sense to use it!ĭownload this tutorial as a print-ready PDF! Photoshop. That's right, out of the 25 file types found in Photoshop's "Save As" dialog box, there's really only a handful of them that most of us will ever use. ![]() If you're one of the many, many people who have found themselves overwhelmed by the sheer number of file formats that Photoshop presents us with when trying to save an image, good news! You can safely ignore most of them!

This could be the most expensive transaction of your life, and you don’t want to mess it up. Follow these steps when selling your home on your own: 1. If after looking at the benefits and drawbacks of selling your home on your own, you decide FSBO is still the right move, there are things you can do to better position yourself for success. Sounds easy, right? But consider the hours it will take to determine the price, stage the home (including making necessary repairs), marketing and showing the home and negotiations. FSBO sounds like a cool DIY project–you know the home, the neighborhood and what you want to get for the home, and it’s a hot market. You can’t afford to fail in any of those areas. Unless you have an extensive background in real estate, you might not be able to effectively handle the most important parts of the job, such as setting a market-friendly price, staging and marketing the home, and reviewing and negotiating a purchase contract and other details. Here are a couple of reasons FSBO might not work well: ![]() There is a reason why some home sellers try FSBO for a while, then decide to hire an agent after not selling their home-it’s not easy. The NAR says 77% of FSBO homes were sold in two weeks or less, but that’s usually because the seller knows the buyer. The NAR admitted in a recent survey that FSBO homes sold more quickly than agent-assisted homes. Of course, you also have a say in all of these things when you work with an agent. You can determine your price, whether or where the house is marketed and handle all negotiations when you opt for FSBO. Also, if the buyer has an agent, you’ll probably pay that agent’s commission, which could be up to 3% of the sale price. ![]() But you’ll need to account for the many costs associated with home listing and selling, such as posting the home on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). The more DIY you make it, the less you’re likely to pay others. A seller can save several thousand dollars in commission fees by not hiring a real estate agent. But keeping the real estate commission for yourself isn’t the exclusive benefit to selling your house without a real estate agent. There’s one major motivating factor that drives homeowners to consider going it alone: cash. There are plenty of ways to get assistance with the FSBO process, including websites such as and that showcase homes across the country. You can lead the process to set a price for your home, market it online and handle all the negotiations. It’s assumed that many FSBO transactions fall under this scenario because, as a National Association of Realtors (NAR) survey noted, 46% of FSBO sellers did not actively market their home, which seems to indicate the buyers and sellers knew each other. If you want to sell your home to a family member or friend, you might find it easy to sell without a real estate agent. ![]() Homeowners who choose the for sale by owner (FSBO) option lead all or most of the process, from listing the home and showing it to prospective buyers, to negotiating the deal and closing.įSBOs usually fall into one of these two categories: Romaine hearts are the center leaves of the head of lettuce. The outer, darker green leaves of romaine have a grassier and bitter taste than the rest of the heart. Romaine can be eaten raw, cooked, grilled, used in stir fry’s, added to soups and smoothies, or used to top off a sandwich- or even in place of bread to hold a sandwich together. It makes a great salad base and goes well mixed in with other salad greens. Romaine is a very versatile green leafy vegetable. Romaine is common lettuce used in restaurant salads as well. It is easily found in grocery stores, sold as “hearts” or “heads” of romaine. Romaine lettuce has crisp, crunchy leaves. It is a popular salad green most commonly used in Caesar salads and many other salads. Romaine lettuce is also known as cos lettuce. Romaine lettuce has a more robust flavor than iceberg, while iceberg is milder and sweeter in flavor. Most notably, romaine is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin K, fiber, and iron. The biggest difference between romaine vs iceberg lettuce is that romaine lettuce is much higher in nutritional values across the board than iceberg lettuce. Key Differences Romaine vs Iceberg Lettuce Keep reading to find out more and which gives you the most bang for your buck in nutritional value. While they may seem similar in appearance with their crispy green leaves, they have many differences nutritionally. Two of the most common, versatile, and popular leafy greens are romaine and iceberg lettuce. The verdict is in Iceberg may not be the best lettuce for you, while Romaine should be your lettuce of choice. When it comes to making a salad, if you’re anything like me, you want to maximize the nutritional benefits of those yummy salad greens. It may seem like your eating more crispy watered tasting lettuce, than green leafy lettuce, like Romaine due to the way Iceberg grows. Iceberg doesn’t get as much from the sun as it should. ![]() Romaine beats Iceberg because it gets more vitamins and nutrients with photosynthesis. Iceberg is also a storage lettuce, in which case, you can freeze it and eat it at a later date which is really not good. But, what makes the two uniquely different is how it grows, because Iceberg grows in a ball it doesn’t receive the direct sunlight so the leaves don’t green up. It is also a good source of Thiamin, Vitamin B6, Iron and Potassium, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Folate and Manganese. Iceberg still has some value such as it is low in Sodium, and very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. It is also considered a hybrid plant! And due to Iceberg being more widespread than Romain, you hear more about the effects of Iceberg than Romaine. Iceberg has been known to carry a lot more pesticides and disease than Romaine does. Ice Berg lettuce formerly called crisphead lettuce earned its modern name in the 1930s when East Coast residents would excitedly wait for the shipment from California covered in ice, and would call out eagerly that the “icebergs are coming” take from the superhuman. It is also a good source of vitamin B2, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B6, phosphorus, chromium, magnesium, calcium and pantothenic acid. ![]() Romaine lettuce is a very good source of dietary fiber, manganese, potassium, biotin, vitamin B1, copper, iron and vitamin C.
